Keto Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese (cut into sticks, about 3–4 inches long)

  • 1/2 cup almond flour

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

  • Coconut oil, avocado oil, or olive oil for frying (if frying)

Optional for extra crunch:

  • 2 tablespoons crushed pork rinds


Instructions

  1. Cut the cheese:

    • Cut mozzarella into sticks approximately 3–4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.

    • Place them on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent cheese from melting too quickly when cooking.

  2. Prepare the coating stations:

    • Bowl 1: Whisk eggs with heavy cream.

    • Bowl 2: Mix almond flour, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and crushed pork rinds if using.

  3. Coat the cheese sticks:

    • Dip each frozen mozzarella stick into the egg mixture.

    • Roll it in the almond flour mixture until fully coated.

    • For extra crispiness, double coat: dip back in egg and then almond flour mixture again.

    • Place coated sticks on a tray and freeze for another 15–20 minutes. This keeps the coating intact while cooking.

  4. Cook the cheese sticks:
    Frying Method:

    • Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet to medium heat (~350°F).

    • Fry sticks 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.

    • Remove and place on paper towels to drain.

    Baking Method:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Place sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

    • Spray lightly with cooking oil.

    • Bake for 8–10 minutes until golden and crispy.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve immediately with a keto-friendly marinara sauce or ranch dressing.


Tips for Best Results

  • Keep cheese sticks frozen until just before cooking to prevent melting.

  • Double coating ensures the cheese stays inside while giving maximum crunch.

  • Serve hot; these are best eaten immediately.
