Cooking Time

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional but improves flavor)

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup warm water

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

Optional Flavor Add-ins

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian herbs

  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or flax seeds

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

  • Spoon or spatula

  • Frying pan with lid or small baking tray

  • Parchment paper (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Mix the dry ingredients

In a medium bowl combine:

  • Flour

  • Baking powder

  • Salt

  • Sugar

Mix well so the baking powder spreads evenly.

2. Add the wet ingredients

  1. Pour in warm water and oil.

  2. Mix with a spoon until a soft dough forms.

If the dough feels:

  • Too sticky: add 1–2 tablespoons flour.

  • Too dry: add 1–2 tablespoons water.

3. Knead briefly

  1. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface.

  2. Knead for 1–2 minutes until smooth.

Since there is no yeast, long kneading is not required.

4. Shape the bread

You have two easy options:

Option A — Flat Skillet Bread (Fastest)

  1. Divide dough into 4–6 pieces.

  2. Roll each piece into a flat circle (½ cm thick).

Option B — Small Quick Loaf

  1. Shape dough into a small oval loaf.

  2. Place it on a lined baking tray.

Cooking Methods

Method 1 — Stovetop (Fastest)

  1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.

  2. Place rolled dough in the pan.

  3. Cook 3–4 minutes per side.

  4. Cover with a lid to help it cook inside.

Bread should turn golden brown with light spots.

Method 2 — Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).

  2. Bake loaf for 15–20 minutes.

  3. Bread should become lightly golden on top.

How to Check if Bread is Done

  • Tap the bottom — it should sound slightly hollow.

  • Texture should be soft but cooked inside.
