Chickpea Balls

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas (boiled or canned, well drained)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped

  • 1 tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili powder

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • 2–3 tbsp chickpea flour (besan) or breadcrumbs

  • ½ tsp baking powder (optional, for light texture)

  • Oil for frying


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Mash or pulse chickpeas until coarse (don’t make it a paste).

  2. Transfer to a bowl and add onion, garlic, herbs, spices, salt & pepper.

  3. Mix in chickpea flour and baking powder until a soft dough forms.

  4. Shape into small balls.

  5. Fry in medium-hot oil until golden and crispy.

    • OR Bake: 200°C / 400°F for 18–20 minutes

    • OR Air fry: 190°C / 375°F for 12–15 minutes

  6. Drain and serve hot.
