WW Mushroom & Swiss Burger Foil Packets

Ingredients (serves 4)
- 4 lean ground beef patties (90% lean or turkey/chicken for lower points)
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 4 slices reduced-fat Swiss cheese
- 1 teaspoon olive oil or cooking spray
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional: fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
For serving (optional, WW-friendly):
- Lettuce leaves or whole-wheat buns
- Mustard or low-calorie ketchup
Instructions
1. Preheat
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) if baking.
- Alternatively, these can be cooked on a grill.
2. Prepare foil packets
- Tear 4 large sheets of aluminum foil.
- Lightly spray with cooking spray or brush with olive oil.
3. Assemble packets
- Place a beef patty in the center of each foil sheet.
- Top with sliced mushrooms and onions.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top.
4. Seal the packets
- Fold foil over the burgers and crimp edges to seal completely.
5. Cook
- Oven method: Place packets on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until patties are cooked through and mushrooms are tender.
- Grill method: Place packets on medium heat and grill for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
6. Serve
- Open foil packets carefully (steam will escape).
- Serve directly in packets or transfer to plates.
- Optional: wrap in lettuce leaves or low-calorie buns, and garnish with fresh herbs.
Tips
- Use lean ground meat to reduce WW points.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or balsamic vinegar before sealing packets.
- You can add bell peppers or zucchini for extra veggies.
