Air Fryer Fried Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 250–300 g button mushrooms (or cremini mushrooms)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko gives extra crispiness)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk or water (for egg wash adjustment)
- Cooking spray or 1–2 teaspoons oil
Preparation
1. Clean mushrooms
- Wipe mushrooms with a damp cloth or rinse quickly and dry immediately
- Remove stems if you prefer, or leave them on for bite-sized snacks
2. Set up coating stations
Prepare three bowls:
- Bowl 1: flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika
- Bowl 2: beaten egg mixed with a little milk or water
- Bowl 3: breadcrumbs
Coating process
- Coat mushrooms in flour first (shake off excess)
- Dip into egg mixture
- Roll in breadcrumbs until fully coated
- For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating once more
Air Frying Instructions
Preheat
- Preheat air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3–5 minutes
Cooking
- Lightly spray air fryer basket with oil
- Arrange mushrooms in a single layer (do not overcrowd)
- Lightly spray tops with oil for better browning
Time and temperature
- Cook at 190°C for 10–12 minutes
- Shake or turn halfway through cooking
- Cook until golden brown and crispy
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with garlic mayo, ranch, or spicy dipping sauce
- Best eaten fresh while crispy
