Yield

2–3 servings

Ingredients

Main

  • 2 large apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work best)
  • 1–2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Optional Add-Ins

  • Pinch of salt (enhances sweetness)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (prevents browning, adds brightness)
  • 1 tsp coconut sugar (extra caramel flavor)

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Sharp knife or mandoline slicer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Parchment paper or air fryer liner (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Slice the Apples

  1. Wash apples thoroughly.
  2. Slice into very thin rounds (about 1/8 inch or 2–3 mm).
    • Remove seeds carefully
    • You can leave the peel on for extra fiber

Tip: A mandoline gives the most even, crispy results.

Step 2: Season the Slices

In a bowl, combine:

  • Apple slices
  • Maple syrup
  • Cinnamon
  • Optional lemon juice, vanilla, or salt

Toss gently until evenly coated.

Step 3: Preheat Air Fryer

Preheat to:

  • 300°F (150°C)

for 3–5 minutes.

Lower temperature helps prevent burning and ensures crisping.

Step 4: Arrange in Air Fryer

  1. Place apple slices in a single layer.
  2. Avoid overlapping for even crisping.
  3. Work in batches if needed.

Step 5: Air Fry

Cook at:

  • 300°F (150°C) for 10 minutes

Then:

  • Flip slices carefully
  • Cook another 8–12 minutes

Check frequently near the end.

They are done when:

  • Dry
  • Lightly curled at edges
  • Crisp after cooling

Step 6: Cool and Crisp

  1. Remove chips from air fryer.
  2. Let cool on a rack or plate.
  3. They will become crispier as they cool.
