Fried Potatoes and Onions

Ingredients

  • 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced (or cubed)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3–4 tbsp oil (or butter)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the potatoes
Slice thin for crispier results, or cube for softer centers.
(Optional: soak in cold water 10–15 minutes, then dry well—this helps crisp them up.)
  2. Heat the pan
Use a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil or butter.
  3. Cook the potatoes
Add potatoes in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes to form a golden crust, then flip.
  4. Add onions
Once potatoes start to soften (about 8–10 minutes), add sliced onions.
  5. Season & finish
Sprinkle salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Cook another 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is golden and tender.

🍽️ Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—this keeps them crispy instead of soggy.
  • Use a cast iron skillet if you have one for the best browning.
  • Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs or a fried egg on top for extra flavor.
