Loaded Mashed Potato Bowl

PART 1: Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients

2½ lbs Yukon Gold or russet potatoes

4 tbsp butter (or vegan butter)

½–¾ cup warm milk (dairy or unsweetened plant milk)

½ cup sour cream (or vegan sour cream)
-
1 tsp salt (plus more to taste)

½ tsp black pepper
-
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Potatoes

Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into even chunks.

Place in a large pot and cover with cold water by 1 inch.

Add a generous pinch of salt.

Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer.

Cook 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
Do not overcook or they’ll become watery.
Step 2: Mash

Drain well and let steam dry 2–3 minutes.

Mash using a potato masher or ricer.

Stir in butter first (this coats starch and improves texture).
-
Add warm milk gradually until creamy.

Mix in sour cream, salt, pepper, and garlic.
Taste and adjust seasoning.
