Vegan Air Fryer Pizza Rolls

Makes about 16–18 rolls


Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp instant dry yeast

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • ¾ cup warm water (about 40°C / 105°F)

Filling

  • ½ cup thick pizza sauce or marinara

  • ¾ cup shredded vegan mozzarella or pizza cheese

  • ¼ cup finely chopped mushrooms

  • ¼ cup finely diced bell pepper

  • 2 tbsp finely chopped olives

  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional, for extra cheesy flavor)

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • Black pepper to taste

Brushing (optional but recommended)

  • 1½ tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp dried oregano


Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.

  2. Let sit for 5–7 minutes until foamy.

  3. Add olive oil and salt.

  4. Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.

  5. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.

  6. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 60 minutes or until doubled.


2. Prepare the Filling

  1. In a bowl, combine pizza sauce, vegan cheese, mushrooms, bell pepper, olives, nutritional yeast, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper.

  2. Mix well. The filling should be thick, not runny.


3. Shape the Pizza Rolls

  1. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle about 30 × 20 cm (12 × 8 inches).

  2. Spread filling evenly, leaving a 2 cm (¾ inch) border.

  3. Roll tightly from the long side into a log.

  4. Slice into 2–2.5 cm (¾–1 inch) pieces.


4. Air Fry

  1. Preheat air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 3 minutes.

  2. Lightly grease the air fryer basket.

  3. Arrange pizza rolls cut-side up, leaving space between them.

  4. Brush tops lightly with the garlic-oil mixture.

  5. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.


5. Serve

  • Let cool for 2–3 minutes before serving.

  • Serve with extra warm pizza sauce for dipping.


Tips for Best Results

  • Chop fillings very finely to prevent leakage.

  • Do not overfill or rolls may burst.

  • If cheese is not melting well, cover loosely with foil for the first 4 minutes, then uncover.


Variations

  • Spicy: Add chili flakes or diced jalapeños

  • Pepperoni-style: Add vegan pepperoni slices, finely chopped

  • Cheesy garlic rolls: Skip sauce, add extra cheese and garlic butter
