Vegan Orange Tofu

🧾 Ingredients (3–4 servings)

🍽️ Crispy Tofu

  • 400 g extra-firm tofu, pressed & cubed

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp oil (for pan-fry or baking)

🍊 Orange Sauce

  • ½ cup fresh orange juice

  • 1 tbsp orange zest

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or sugar

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water

Optional: chili flakes, sesame oil


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Crispy Tofu

  • Toss tofu with soy sauce and cornstarch.

  • Pan-fry: cook in oil until golden on all sides
    OR

  • Bake: 200°C / 400°F for 25–30 min, flipping once
    OR

  • Air-fry: 190°C / 375°F for 15–18 min

2️⃣ Orange Sauce

  • Whisk all sauce ingredients (except cornstarch slurry) in a pan.

  • Simmer 3–4 minutes.

  • Stir in cornstarch slurry; cook until thick and glossy.

3️⃣ Combine

  • Add crispy tofu to sauce.

  • Toss gently to coat evenly.

  • Taste and adjust sweet/tangy balance.


🍽️ Serve With

  • Steamed rice or quinoa

  • Noodles or lettuce cups

  • Stir-fried veggies

  • Add broccoli or bell peppers for a full meal

  • Make it spicy with chili paste
