🍊 Vegan Orange Tofu (Crispy, Sticky & Better Than Takeout)

Serves: 2–3 | Time: ~30 minutes

🌱 Ingredients

Tofu

  • 400 g firm or extra-firm tofu, pressed & cubed

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Oil for frying or baking

Orange Sauce

  • ½ cup fresh orange juice

  • 1 tbsp orange zest

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari)

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water

  • Chili flakes (optional)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Crisp the tofu:
    Toss tofu with cornstarch, salt & pepper. Pan-fry in hot oil until golden on all sides
    (or bake at 200°C / 400°F for 25 minutes, flipping once).

  2. Make sauce:
    In a pan, combine orange juice, zest, soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, ginger & garlic. Simmer 3–4 minutes.

  3. Thicken:
    Stir in cornstarch slurry. Cook until glossy and thick.

  4. Combine:
    Add crispy tofu, toss to coat well. Cook 1–2 minutes.
