WW Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions –


Ingredients

Beef and Vegetables

  • 400 g lean beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

Marinade

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce (optional but recommended)

  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar or honey

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth or water

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for thickening)

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil


Instructions

1. Marinate the Beef

  1. Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl.

  2. Add soy sauce, cornstarch, black pepper, and sesame oil.

  3. Mix well so the beef is evenly coated.

  4. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes.


2. Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl combine:

  • Soy sauce

  • Oyster sauce

  • Brown sugar or honey

  • Beef broth

  • Cornstarch

Stir well until the cornstarch dissolves completely. Set aside.


3. Cook the Beef

  1. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat.

  2. Add the vegetable oil.

  3. Add the marinated beef in a single layer.

  4. Stir-fry for about 2–3 minutes until the beef is lightly browned.

  5. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.


4. Cook the Vegetables

  1. In the same pan add the minced garlic and ginger.

  2. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers.

  4. Stir-fry on high heat for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.


5. Combine Everything

  1. Return the cooked beef to the pan.

  2. Stir the prepared sauce again and pour it into the pan.

  3. Cook for 1–2 minutes while stirring until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
