🌱 Vegan Custard Buns Recipe
🧾 Ingredients
🥛 Vegan Custard Filling

1½ cups plant milk (soy or almond)

3 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)

1 tbsp vegan butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch turmeric (for color – optional)
Method

Whisk milk, sugar, and cornflour in a saucepan.

Cook on low heat, stirring constantly until thick.

Remove from heat, stir in vegan butter & vanilla.

Cool completely, then refrigerate until firm.
🍞 Bun Dough

3 cups all-purpose flour

2¼ tsp instant yeast
-
¼ cup sugar
-
¾ cup warm plant milk
-
2 tbsp oil
-
½ tsp salt
Method

Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Rest 5 minutes.

Add flour, salt, oil. Knead into soft dough.

Cover and let rise 1–1½ hours (double in size).
🥟 Assemble

Divide dough into balls.

Flatten, add 1–2 tbsp custard in center.

Seal well and shape into buns.

Steam buns over medium heat 12–15 minutes

Rest 5 minutes before opening lid
