Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches (Creamy, Savory & Crowd-Pleasant)

Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches are a classic for a reason. They’re small, buttery, and irresistibly rich, with just the right balance of crunch and creaminess. The delicate crisp of the Ritz cracker gives way to a smooth, flavorful filling that feels indulgent without being heavy. Because they’re bite-sized, they disappear fast—making them ideal for gatherings where everyone wants “just one more.”

What makes these sandwiches so special is their versatility. The filling can be simple and nostalgic or dressed up with herbs, cheese, or a hint of spice. Once assembled, they chill beautifully, allowing the flavors to meld and the crackers to soften slightly into a perfectly tender bite. They’re easy to make ahead, easy to serve, and always a hit on any party table.

Ingredients (Makes about 24 sandwich crackers)

  • 48 Ritz crackers

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Colby-Jack)

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

  • Optional: finely chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

1. Make the Filling

In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter. Beat until smooth and creamy, with no lumps. Add the shredded cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until fully combined and thick but spreadable. If using herbs, fold them in gently at the end.

2. Assemble the Sandwiches

Lay half of the Ritz crackers flat on a clean surface, bottom side up. Spread about 1 teaspoon of filling evenly onto each cracker. Top with a second cracker, gently pressing down to create a sandwich without squeezing out the filling.

3. Chill

Arrange the sandwiches in a single layer in an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Chilling allows the flavors to meld and slightly softens the crackers, creating that classic party-sandwich texture.

4. Serve

Remove from the refrigerator about 10 minutes before serving for the best flavor and texture. Arrange on a platter and watch them disappear.
